Letter from the Superintendent - 10/8/2020

USV Community,

The district was informed this morning, Thursday, October 8th that two staff members have tested positive for the Coronavirus.  The Hardin County Health Department was contacted immediately.  Students and Staff who may have been in close contact with the infected staff members will be contacted by the Hardin County Health Department.  Close contact, as defined by the Hardin County Health Department, is less than 6 feet for approximately 15 minutes or more.

Please keep in mind that our Hardin County Reopening Plan, approved by the Hardin County Health Department, is designed to minimize the risk of exposure to the Coronavirus, it is not designed to prevent exposure.  A preliminary investigation of this situation shows the district has been following our approved protocols.  However, the district will use this experience to review the procedures in place and reiterate to students and staff the importance of following them.

This is not a notice of quarantine, rather an awareness for you to continue to check your child’s temperature and monitor for symptoms daily.  If your child requires testing or quarantine, an official from the Hardin County Health Department will contact you.  If your child or anyone in your home should develop symptoms, please call your primary care provider or the Hardin County Health Department.  Do not send your child to school or to activities when ill and please continue to wear masks in public and practice social distancing.  Unless you have been contacted by the Health Department, your child can continue to come to school if they are symptom free and healthy.

Thanks,

Craig M. Hurley
